November Newsletter

This month brought lots of excitement to Horfield! We had a visit from the local police and later from the animal sanctuary, which the children absolutely loved. Each room also celebrated special events including Bonfire Night, World Kindness Day, and Nursery Rhyme Week. We took the opportunity to talk to the children about Remembrance and the meaning behind the poppy, helping them understand its importance.

Next month promises even more festive fun as the children begin to get excited for Christmas — and of course, the much-anticipated preschool nativity!

Hedgehogs

Hedgehogs have been making their own firework water tray by mixing the different colours together and blowing the firework bubbles. They also got creative with the colder weather that we have been experiencing by creating their own artic snow tray - brrr it was a bit chilly outside! Hedgehogs loved the animals visiting - they were able to have a cuddle with some guinea pigs and rabbits and smooth their soft fur.

Otters

This month, the Otters have been busy creating beautiful poppy and firework art using lots of different methods. They were fascinated by the sounds fireworks make—“whoosh, bang, pop!” A highlight of the month was a special visit from the animal sanctuary. The children enjoyed stroking the animals and sharing stories about their nursery day with the visitors.

Badgers

The Badgers have been busy exploring a range of techniques to make beautiful firework art. They discussed the many colours they could see and how fireworks often burst together in the sky. As the weather has turned colder, the Badgers have been enjoying making their own imaginative snow set-ups.

Deers

This month, the Deer room welcomed the local police for an exciting visit. Joining with the Badger room, the children asked thoughtful questions and discovered more about what police officers do—plus they had the chance to see a real police car. The Deer room have also been learning about animal habitats. They have built their own animal environments and spent time sorting animals into the places where they live.

Dental Health

With figures showing that more than a fifth of 5 year olds in England have tooth decay, affecting 3 to 4 teeth on average, dental hygiene is more important than ever. Here are some useful links for you to read:
