October Newsletter

Wow — October was such a busy month!
We enjoyed a fantastic range of events, and it was wonderful to see both children and staff getting so involved. To help keep everyone up to date with what’s coming next, we’ve created an “Events Window” in the entrance area. Please keep an eye on it — there are some exciting things on the way!

Nominate a Star

Is there a staff member that you would like to be acknowledged for all their hard work this year or someone who you would just like to thank? At Snapdragons we run a reward scheme for our employees, nominations from parents mean stars for the staff that can go towards a range of different rewards and prizes which can include sweet treats, hampers, meal vouchers and even a trip to the spa, so if you would like to reward the staff remember to fill in the online form sharing your lovely words. Horfield Events Calendar:

Hedgehogs:

Our Babies room enjoyed a wonderful trip to the pumpkin patch, where they explored all the different textures, colours, and senses the Hedgehog pumpkin patch had to offer. We also blasted off to space for a moon-themed adventure, discovering what surprises we might find up there! To finish the month with a splash of colour, we celebrated Diwali—and let’s just say the adults ended up just as colourful as the children!

Squirrels:

The Squirrel room have had a Blast too! From giggling over aliens in underpants to getting a little spooky with our very own cloud-dough ghosts, it’s been a month full of imagination and messy play. We’ve also been exploring the beautiful autumnal colours—looking closely at the shades we can spot in our environment. The children were quick to notice how many leaves had fallen from the trees, and they loved using our new sweeping brushes to help tidy up the garden. What brilliant little helpers!

Otters:

Spiders and pumpkin soup? It must be autumn in the Otter Room! Our toddlers have been getting wonderfully messy and creative as they explore a range of seasonal activities to celebrate autumn and all things Halloween. From spooky spider play to mixing up pretend pumpkin soup, their imaginations have been working overtime! They’ve also been busy with astronaut training—climbing over obstacles, building strength and confidence, and racing all the way to the moon in their space-themed adventures.

Badgers:

The Badger Room have been reaching for the stars this month! From rocket fruit skewers to out-of-this-world face paint, our space-themed fun has kept everyone smiling. We even saw some brilliant home baking as the children used their rock-cake baking bags—top marks all round! Autumn has been a big focus too, with pumpkin rolling and leaf painting becoming firm favourites. We also celebrated Black History Month and Diwali by creating our own colourful Rangoli patterns, exploring shape, colour, and creativity. To round off a fun-filled October, the Badger Room took a special trip to the charity shop, hunting for hidden treasures they could bring back to enhance their room. What a wonderful adventure!

Deers:

The Deer Room have had an exciting month of creativity and exploration! The children have been rocket building with loose parts, letting their imaginations blast off as they constructed their own space creations. They’ve also enjoyed spider painting and making their very own alien creations, embracing all things spooky and space-themed. This month, the Deers also took a trip to the charity shop, where they discovered lots of new puzzles to bring back and explore in their room. What a brilliant adventure and a great way to extend their learning!
