December Newsletter

As we come to the end of another year, we want to take a moment to reflect on what has truly been a wonderful year at our nursery. It has been a year full of fun, laughter, learning, and enjoyment, and we feel so proud of everything the children have achieved.

Together, we have created many special memories — from everyday moments of curiosity and discovery to celebrations and milestones that make nursery life so meaningful. These moments are at the heart of what we do and will stay with us for a long time. We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all our parents and carers for your continued support, trust, and partnership throughout the year. Your encouragement and involvement make such a positive difference to our nursery community. We would also like to say a huge thank you to our incredible staff team. Their dedication, care, and commitment ensure that every child feels safe, valued, and inspired each day.

While this year has meant saying some fond farewells, we have also been delighted to welcome new faces into our nursery family. Change is never easy, but it brings fresh energy and opportunities, and we are excited about the team and community we are building together. Looking ahead, 2026 will continue to see us grow, and we cannot wait to see what the year brings. We are excited for new experiences, new learning, and many more special moments with your children. As we enter the festive season, we would like to remind everyone of the importance of the gift of time. The simple moments spent together — talking, playing, reading, and sharing — are often the most meaningful gifts of all, especially for young children.

Finally, we would like to wish all those celebrating a very Merry Christmas, and we hope everyone enjoys a lovely, restful break filled with warmth, joy, and precious family time.

Thank you once again for being part of our nursery community. We look forward to welcoming you back in the New Year.

Upcoming Events:

Hedgehogs:

The babies had lots of fun exploring a range of winter-themed sensory activities. They loved scooping up gloopy snowballs, rolling their own reindeer, and squishing winter-scented potion bags. Christmas dinner was also a big hit — there really wasn’t much left!

Squirrels:

The Squirrel Room have been getting into the festive spirit this month by writing their own letters to Father Christmas and enjoying lots of Christmas stories. They’ve also been getting creative by making their own decorations and even had a go at snowball painting.

Otters:

The Otters have been busy making their own gingerbread, exploring different ways to make snow, and even went on a trip on the Polar Express. They’ve also made lots of their own decorations to spread festive cheer and enjoyed their Christmas dinner together.

Badgers:

Badgers have been using their imaginations and finding out ways to use different tools to cut and create their own festive decorations - they made snowmen, hats and even had a go at wrapping up their own presents! Badgers also decided to have a hot chocolate station where we were served with yummy toppings! Badgers enjoyed our visit from Father Christmas this year too!

Deers:

Deers took a trip to the North Pole on their festive iceberg stepping stones to see father Christmas. They also used their physical environment to create a Christmas tree hopscotch! Some of the Deers made their own Christmas cards and opened up a gingerbread bakery full of wonderful surprises!

One of my favourite Christmas poems to share with you all…

Wishing you a restful break and we look forward to seeing you all in the new year

Love the Horfield Team x
