September 2021
Roald Dahl Day
We are finally getting to celebrate an event in the nursery after a long 18 months of restrictions; this event will be Roald Dahl day held on Monday September 13th. This author has created so many amazing children's books that I am sure you all are aware of and have read plenty of times at home. We would love it if your child wanted to come to nursery dressed up as the character of their choice from one of his books for a little bit of fun. We are looking forward to seeing all their creative outfits on Monday and sharing about who we have come as for the day.
Babies’ Butterfly Release
This month our baby room got to do something incredibly special! Our baby room got to experience the process of metamorphosis in our netted butterfly enclosure. Feeding and watching the butterflies was a big hit in the room as everyone was very fascinated when the butterflies got to the stage of flying. On the day of release everyone came down to the garden to watch as our beautiful orange butterflies flew high into the sky.
Preschool’s Trip to Carters Steam Fair
Games, rides, and prizes oh my! Our preschool team got to take a small group to the Carters Steam Fair for our first trip out of the nursery since lockdown. With smiles all around everyone had such a lovely time and it was so nice to be able to see everyone act like kids again.
A Day of Baking for Toddlers
With all the little helping hands, baking can be tons of fun. Our toddlers love to get involved when they see all the ingredients come out for a baking activity, especially when they know there is going to be something delicious that comes out of it. Pizzas and flapjacks are on the menu for today’s day of baking.
A Change of Position
It is with great excitement we can now announce our current Head of Babies
Lauren Jeffries
has been promoted to our new position of Head of Early Years Practice.
Lauren will still be a part of the Grosvenor team working in the nursery
(You didn’t think we would let her go that easily, did you? )
Congratulations Lauren
We are so proud of you!
Mask Update
With restrictions easing and masks not being mandatory for many places, we still are asking when you are dropping off or picking up that you could please continue to wear a mask. We are keeping this in place for now for the protection of our younger staff who have not yet had there covid jab and to continue with our precautions in keeping the nursery as safe as possible.
Changes to the EYFS
Just a quick note about the Early Years’ Foundation Stage. The curriculum around this was changed from September 1st. You should have received an email from Anna who is our quality and training manager explaining all the changes regarding this. There is now a requirement for leaders and managers to reduce the workload for our fantastic practitioners, such as unnecessary paperwork, so they can spend more time with your children, how great is that!!
