Winter 2021
What’s been happening at Weston?
We have been so busy over the last couple of months with the teams focusing on the children’s well being and trying to maintain as much normality as possible for them.
We are celebrating World Book Day over the next few weeks, Can you guess which book our Window display depicts? It is a firm favourite amongst the children. We have also celebrated Chinese New Year, Pancake Day and Valentine’s Day. Don’t forget to check ParentZone for updates on your child’s day, please do upload your photos from home as well because we love to see what you’ve been up to!
Norland College is looking for new placement families!
If you need an extra pair of hands, you may be interested in hosting a Norland student on a placement. Norland are looking for families to support their students on their daily and residential placements in Spring and Summer 2021. If you live within an hour's drive of the Bath area and have a child under the age of two years who is at home full-time with you, you could be eligible. All placements are subject to government Covid guidance.
Are you or someone you know interested? Get in touch by emailing placements@norland.ac.uk to find out more information.
Millie’s Mark
Weston has been awarded the Millie’s Mark accreditation. This is a quality assurance award from the National Day Nurseries Association (NDNA) in collaboration with the Department for Education and Millie’s Trust.
The Millie’s Mark award for Weston is an acknowledgement that the whole team, including our chefs, cleaners and office staff, have full Paediatric First Aid and that we have assessed our procedures, risk assessments and environments.
We are now an official Millie’s Mark awarded nursery but our hard work of continuously developing our quality care and education will not stop. It is crucial that we maintain the criteria over its three years lifespan when we will then be re-assessed.
We have been working towards this award for the last 19 months and are so proud of the dedication and commitment from the whole staff team and I am delighted to be able to share this fantastic news with you all.
Can you give some advice to prospective families?
Since the Lockdown last year, children have been having such different experiences to those they would usually have. Prior to COVID, families would integrate, meet up, newborns would meet the extended family and we are finding that this isn’t happening. It’s always going to be daunting leaving your child in a setting, with new people and the amount of trust that you have to have in the practitioners and team taking care of your precious child is immense. We have had a lot of nervous prospective families who have found that this has been extremely heightened due to lockdown. Can you provide them with any help or would you like to let us know your experiences? Please do send them via email to weston@snapdragonsnursery.com
As always, we would love to hear about any staff who have gone above and beyond so please do let us know. You can nominate your Snappy Superstar on our website! See link below.
