January/February 2021

Happy New year Everyone, we know it is very belated but January and February have been such busy months! We apologise for not sharing our Nursery News sooner!

The children have all settled back into nursery well, this includes children who have started nursery for the first time or moving to a new room.

Thank you everyone for still adhering to our social distancing and using the hand washing stations. Please can I just remind you that toys from home are not to be brought in unless they are a comforter. This has started to creep in and its something that we would like to avoid, to minimise cross-contamination and spread of germs back and forth.

A little update on what we have been up to this month…

January stories have been The Tiger Who Came to Rea and the Poems for the Very Young.

February stories are Goldilocks and the Three Bears and Each Peach, Pear Plum.

March stories are Billy goats gruff and Kipper.

Babies-

Our new baby room has started to have furniture and resources added and will be opening on Monday 1st March. Once it is finished we will be sure to share some pictures with you all! We will also be sharing some pictures of our beautiful cottage which has been repainted and will have some new resources too!

We have a few staff changes in babies. Firstly our lovely Abbie is off at the end of February, we will be so sad to see her go but wish her all the luck in her new adventure working at the hospital. Abbie has been with us for 4 years now and we will miss her so much. She has settled so many of our babies over the years including lots of our Pre-School children.

Once the new unit opens we will have two Head of Babies, Roz and Sophie, who I’m sure you have already seen around the nursery at hand overs. Hannah will be overseeing both units as Unit Co-ordinator.

Babies have been exploring lots these past few months- including the Tiger that Came to Tea. We have also been making dens, seen snow in the garden for the first time, explored ice play and welly boot printing.

Dragonflies-

Our lovely Laura who has been in our Butterfly room for three years was successful in interviewing for the Head of Dragonfly role. She has moved up this week to join them and is very excited!

Our Dragonflies have loved learning about the Tiger who Came to Tea and Goldilocks and the Three Bears from hosting tea parties in their water tray, making current buns for the song of the month and painting with ice, we even made porridge playdough!

Printing with cars

Printing with cars

Butterflies have been there normal active selves! They have loved exploring the outside looking for ice and loved it when we had the snow to play in! They have had a keen interest in cars and always love nothing more than getting messy and have made their own garage and car wash!

Sunshine Circles

All staff have now accessed the sunshine circle training which they have been implementing more into nursery life. This is a little circle time which really focuses on the children’s well being. It is a form of TheraPlay which focuses on forming secure attachments, helps confidence and making relationships. The children have been thoroughly enjoying this especially having lotion on their hands. If you wish to have more information about sunshine circles please speak to Ella.

Thank you for all for the positive feedback we have been receiving since reopening in the Summer pre covi-id. If you would like to share your thoughts please feel free to complete a day nurseries review card, they can be found in the main door by the office. Alternatively if you would like to email us with any comments or suggestions you may have you can always pop it in an email.

On Thursday 5th March we will be celebrating World Book Day. We are encouraging children to come dressed up as their favourite character from a book. Please do not feel you need to spend lots of money on costumes these can be home made and the more creative the better!

There will be winners in each age group for the most creative costume!
