June 2021

It’s been a whole year since we reopened our doors to all of our children and staff. It has been a very strange and difficult 12 months for everyone, as ever we really appreciate all your patience and understanding during this time and would to say a very big thank you for all of your continued support. We would also like to take the opportunity to say a big well done to all of your lovely children who have coped with all the changes so well.

We are Curious!

We are very excited to share with you that, as a nursery, we are working towards our accreditation with ‘The Curiosity Approach’. This is a modern day approach that fits perfectly in current changing technological times. It brings curiosity, awe and wonder into early childhood & creates the 'thinkers & doers' of the future. Over the next year you will see some changes to the setting with regards to the environment we offer the children as we introduce more natural and realistic resource and some changes to how we support the children’s learning and development. Please feel free to ask your child’s key person if you would like more information, you can also visit The Curiosity Approach website at www.thecuriosityapproach.com
As we work towards creating a more curious environment we are on the look out for resources that that will capture the children’s interest and allow them to explore the world around them. Currently we are looking for the following items:

Hats, Shoes (Clean pairs please), Adult clothes (for dressing up), Pots and pans, Wooden crates, Wooden pallets (in good condition), Wooden planks, Cable reels and photo frames.

If you are having a clear out or happen to have any of these things that you no longer need we would really appreciate any donations.

Children’s observations and planning

We are now moving over to ‘in the moment’ planning and observations for the children, this means that your child’s key person will be observing their learning and responding by developing their learning in that moment rather than setting them next step. The observations you see on your child’s learning journey may look a little different but we hope that it will be very clear what you child is being taught. Your child will have regular observations and every week a child from each age group will be selected to be the Focus child. As the Focus child, your child’s key person will complete up to five observations to support and develop your child’s learning, we will send you an email to inform you when your child is going to be the Focus child and will ask you to complete a form with some information about your child to help us understand your child’s development as a whole and how best to support them going forward.

If you have any question please do ask your child’s key person.

Staffing update

We would like to inform you of some changes to our team over the next few weeks. Sadly we say goodbye to Dylan this month as he moves on to new ventures. However, we are very excited to say that we have Gabby joining the team who will be our new Head of babies. Gabby already works for Snapdragons over at our Grosvenor site and is looking forward to getting to know all the children and families here. We also welcome Jade as our new Deputy head of babies and she has already started getting to know some of the children.
