October Newsletter 2025
Our teaching toolkit theme of the month is:
Communicate with confidence- To be talkative and love language.
What have the babies been up to?
The babies have been getting into the autumn spirit this month and creating some lovely autumnal art work. The babies worked together to create some beautiful marks to make some leaves to put onto a big tree. The babies have also been exploring some autumnal tuff spot trays with lots of natural objects such as leaves and pine cones to explore the different textures.
What have the toddlers been up to?
The toddlers have been outside a lot this month! They have really seemed to enjoy the forest garden and getting very muddy with their wellies in. The children decided to make their own creations with the insides of a pumpkin and lots of other bits they could find such as leaves and feathers, and then pretended it was lots of different foods. The children have also been getting into the autumn spirit like babies and decided to create a bit autumnal tree. We spoke about all the different colours we see in autumn, the chlildren decided their favourite colour was orange for autumn. They have also been enjoying the bikes, crates and playing tag!
What have the pre-school been up to?
The pre-school children have creating some drawings of their version of a pumpkin. The children have been talking about halloween and what they must see at this time of year. The children have also been discussing all things autumnal. They took a real interest in discussing the leaves changing colour. The children have also been in the mini kitchen this month creating some delicious fruit flapjack to enjoy for their snack. They used their fine motor skills to cut up the fruit, they discussed the ingredients, and then used mathematical language to count out the ingredients. The children also have had fun with the torches this month, we have used this in an activity to find all of the autumn pictures.

Reminders and upcoming dates for the diary:
Please do not hold the door open for any other parents. We have strict safeguarding procedures when it comes to door policy to ensure the safety of the children. Please allow someone on the desk to let each family in as we do verify all parents and family collecting the children.
Most families whose children’s had their photos taken with concept photography have had their prints back now. Please can we ask that these are back by Friday 31st October.
Fancy dress week- your child is invited to take part in wearing their favourite fancy dress outfits for the week of Halloween.
Please can we ask that all children are being sent in with waterproof clothing and wellies. Can we please ask that children do come in with alternative shoes such as trainers, as we do not allow children to wear wellies indoors as they can be unsafe. Please could all clothes be labelled, a lot of children have the same clothing and this will eliminate clothes going missing, or going home with the wrong children.
Christmas Pre-school Nativity- this will be help on Friday 5th December. We will be holding an AM and PM performance. Invitiations will be going out the week commencing 3rd November.
Christmas Dinner Day- We will be having this on Wednesday 10th December.
We will be holding our Christmas party on Thursday 11th December where a very special visitor will make an appearance to the cottage to give the children at Snapdragons a little present! More details regarding this will be released closer to the time.
Please do not forget, we are hosting our Halloween party next Thursday 30th October- from 5pm-7pm. This will be held in the car park garden, we will be providing fresh winter vegetable soup and bread for the children and families as well as a little sweet treat. Please do let us know if you are able to attend and we can add you to the list.
