Extra sessions

We have had a recent shuffle around at the nursery with children venturing up into their next exciting rooms, so we may be able to accomodate extra sessions on certain days in the rooms. Please let us know if this is something you would be interested in.

School leavers

For anyone whose little one is off to school this year, we kindly ask that you give us one months notice prior to them finishing. Please can you let the office know your childs end dates. Thanks in advance.

Growing area

Our growing area is starting to produce some amazing fruit and vegetables. A great big shout out the Charlotte and the pre-school team who have been working hard to grow some wonderful produce for us to enjoy! It is really important to us that the children here see the process of growing food and that it doesn’t just come from a packet. Jo our catering manager works alongside ourselves for our soil association award and we are currently working towards another year of our gold standard!

Farewell Chickens…

What a lovely few weeks the children and staff have had watching our chicks - Sonny, Peggy, Blue, Stripe and Bruce, hatch and grow into the biggest characters. We all loved them so much and it was great for the children to not only see the life cycle but also to see how different they were, leanring about how we can be the same but still very different.

The chicks taught the children so much and it is already too quiet here in the office without them, so…..

We couldnt help ourselves and now have Turkey eggs growing in the incubator in the office!

Here are a few pictures of our michievious little friends from when they hatched throught to the chickens they grew into.

…hello Turkey’s!

Toddlers have been looking at books about chickens and making our own fluffy chick collages! They were so careful to be gentle when stroking them and holding them! 🐣🐣🐣🐣🐣

Farm trip to Warleigh Lodge

In July our school leavers will have the opportunity to join us on our famous farm trip. You should have recieved a letter from the pre-school team. If your child is off to school in September and does not attend on a Friday please do feel free to contact the office about adding on half a session or to see if we can swap their day. Below are some picture of what the children can look forward to!

Trip to Lovejoys

Last month a few of our pre-school children had the opportunity to visit our suppliers Lovejoys and a local farm where our potatoes are grown. As I mentioned above children having that deeper understanding about where their food comes from is really important and we had the best time seeing all the different fruit and vegatables that Lovejoys have to offer and seeing a real life farm with cows, grain and potatoes! A great big thank you to Lovejoys and Boyds farm for letting us visit.

Pre-school are now very much getting into supporting our little ones for their transition to school and part of that has been running little PE sessions which then lead to us having a little sport day up at the park!

How lucky have we been with the weather throughout May! Another wonderful month of sunshine has of course lead to lots of lovely outdoor play. Preschool have been cooling down in the sun, transporting water with gutters and pans. Looking at where the water goes, how quickly it moves and how to stop the leaks, which took some serious probelm solving!

Do you know a Snappy Super Star?

Is there a member of my team that has stood out to you that you think deserves a special mention? It means the world to the ladies to recieve a nomination so if there is someone who you would like to give a special mention to please follow the link below.

https://www.snapdragonsnursery.com/superstar

We are a Millie’s Mark accredited nursery. This means that all Snapdragons Atworth staff are paediatric first aid trained and are confident in how to respond to a paediatric first aid situation. This is a huge achievement and hopefully further reassures you all that your little Snappies are in safe hands. Please let me know if you would like any further information about this.

Permissions

As you may now notice we are putting together a monthly newsletter and I just wanted to reach out to check if you would like to change your childs permissions for photos to be included in these. The link is only sent to the parents who attend our nursery and these photos are not then included on social media. If this is something you would like to check or amend please feel free to email on in and we can get this changed for you. If you would also like to change your childs permissions for social media then again feel free to email in, this is a different permission to the one for our newsletter.

Dietaries

If your child has a dietary and you have recently made any changes could you please can you contact the office.

Mobile Phones

Can I kindly remind you of our Mobile phone policy here at the nursery- when dropping off or collecting your child could please leave your phone in your car in a pocket. You must not take any photos inside the nursery as this is against our safeguarding policy. Many thanks in advance for your co-operation with this.

Suncream and Hats

Dare we say the sun is starting to make an apperance so could we please ask that you bring in a named suncream and hat for your child.

Holidays

We know it might be the time of year where you have a few nice little breaks planned in. Could we please ask that you pop us a little email to let us know if your child will not be attending. This helps with us planning meals and knowing how many children to expect each day. Many thanks.

Bank Holidays

Just a reminder that we are not open for bank holidays.

Medication and Illness policies:

If your child has been prescribed medication then they will need to have had been taking it for 24hrs before returning to nursery.
Please do not leave any medication in your child’s bag, it must be handed to the office and a medication authorisation form must be filled out.

When Calpol or any temperature reducing medicine is given to your child prior to nursery, they are not able to attend nursery until they are 4 hours clear of the medication.

A little reminder about some of the more common illnesses and the exclusion periods:

Conjunctivitis - They have to have been treated for 24hours and the child has to be comfortable.

D&V - 48 hours clear of the last incident.

Chicken Pox - Children can’t return to nursery until the spots have all scabbed over and are completely dry.

Hand, Foot and Mouth - Children can return once all symptoms have subsided.

Thank you for your help and understanding. If you have any questions or are unsure of anything, please do get in touch with the office
