At Snapdragons we love hosting events for the nursery children and their families and giving children the opportunity to go on exciting trips.
Summer Fete
Our next fete is on:
Saturday 14th July 2012, 13:30 - 16:00
One of the most popular events of the year, the Snapdragons Summer Fete brings together families across the community as we fundraise for charity and have some fun along the way!
With a collection of games and stalls there is sure to be something for you to enjoy.
Held annually in July in the grounds of our majestic nursery in Weston, Bath, the fete incorporates barbecues, bouncy castles, fun games and stalls as well as a fantastic raffle with some tremendous prizes available to win!
Winter Wonderland
Our next fayre is on:
TBC December 2012
This magical festive event is brought to life through the Narnia theme and offers children and their families opportunities to take part in fun activities and experience the snowy wonderland that is created.
With a chance to visit Santa Claus, paint Christmas mugs, have your photo taken with a donkey or simply browse our collection of exciting stalls and games, this event is one of the most exciting times of the year.
Sports Days
Sports Day is a major part of the Snapdragons calendar at every nursery and each nursery has their own way of hosting it.
Exercise and physical activity are major parts of a child's early years development and we ensure that their days are filled with opportunities to take part in this in a fun and varied way.
Children can take part in a wide range of games, sports and activities, both in teams and individually as they compete against the other children in their group.
Events can range from scooter races, sprints, sack races or egg and spoon.
Carnivals
As part of our festival calendar, the Snapdragons Carnival gives the children the opportunity to create costumes and musical instruments and entertain their surrounding residents as they dance their way along the streets.
Carnival month is held during the summer, in June or July and is based upon the hugely successful and entertaining carnivals that you can see across the globe such as Notting Hill or Rio.
Music is a must as is a colourful costume or mask and the children all relish the chance to be part of this musical festivity.
Quiz Nights
Our next quiz is on:
TBC
The Snapdragons Quiz Night is a one-night per year gathering for parents to take part in an entertaining and mildly-challenging quiz.
The quiz offers something for everyone, with a diverse range of topics from movies to culture to history and beyond.
Your night will include a delicious cooked dinner served at the interval before the continuation of the quiz with your hosts.
Since the quiz started, it has proved a fantastic event for parents to meet other parents from the nursery and their child's room and enjoy a social event away from the hustle and bustle of the working day.
Warleigh Lodge Farm
Warleigh Lodge Farm is a popular destination for us at Snapdragons. So much so that we are there every year to see Farmer Julian and his wife Rosemary as they take us on a wonderful trip around their farmyard and fields just outside of Bath.
A typical day at the farm will include a diverse range of activities and opportunities for the children including:
- Lamb feeding
- Donkey grooming
- Tractor rides
- Pig bedding
Bristol Zoo
Trips out to new and exciting places are part of our established routine and one of the top trips of the year is to Bristol Zoo.
Bristol Zoo has a selection of exotic and amazing animals, insects and creatures that fascinate the Pre-School children that we take. From the enormous gorillas to the quaint butterflies, the zoo has something for everyone and the children really enjoy navigating their way around the attractions.
If there is one thing that the full-day trip can guarantee it is a tired child at the end and a host of stories to share.
Holi Festival
This Hindu festival is also known as the 'festival of colours' and for very good reason! The children love any opportunity to throw some paint around and Holi gives them the perfect excuse to do just that!
The fun activities are a perfect introduction to the festivities and the children will spend time during their week looking at the various different aspects of Holi and the Hindu culture.
Nursery visitors
Visitors such as the Fire Brigade are always welcome and such a huge hit with the children.
The firemen are always really helpful and friendly and give the children the chance to explore the fire engine, spray the hose and try on fire uniform.
At the end of the day we have a big group of children, all of whom are excited to grow up and become firemen!
We encourage visits from parents and professionals who can talk to the children about their jobs. Across our nurseries the children have been able to learn from dentists, nurses, policemen, veterinary nurses and an archeologist as well as learning from parents about their different cultures.
